Introduction
Use this guide to prepare clothing and accessory assets in Character Creator 5.2 after modeling is complete. Follow the stages below in order, or select a topic to go directly to the instructions you need.
Preparation and Import
- Preparing for Garment Production — Configure Cloth Auto Correction When Applying before refitting.
- Importing Garment and Accessory Models — Import OBJ models as Props or Accessories and access Transfer Skin Weight.
- Refitting Garments — Fit the garment to the target character using CC tools or external 3D software.
Skin Weights and Testing
- Transferring Skin Weights — Convert imported OBJ/FBX meshes into CC Cloth with skin weights using an appropriate template. Choose the transfer pose and refine tight-fitting garments.
- Skin Weight Templates — Select a template and review Glove and Shoe requirements.
- Checking Skin Weights — Use Full Body and Hand calibration motions to inspect deformation.
Clothing Layers and Body Visibility
- Cloth Type and Collision Settings — Assign Cloth Type and configure the garment’s default Collision state.
- Hiding Body Mesh — Configure hidden regions for body mesh covered by garments to optimize performance and prevent poke-throughs during movement.
Final Asset Preparation
- Default Settings Before Saving — Apply Save as Default and Set to Default Mesh before saving.
- Garment Thumbnails — Generate asset thumbnails according to standard camera angles and lighting specifications. Prepare scene object visibility, the background, and thumbnail update settings.
